It's time to celebrate our next Motivating Mom of the Month! As our first Run Club session comes to a close, we find it fitting to highlight this mama who has taken Run Club by storm. With determination and commitment, this mama has embraced the challenges of training for her first race with her darling daughter and will get to see all her hard work pay off this upcoming weekend! She is a constant source of strength, kindness and positivity and our village is so lucky to have her! Thank you for being part of our village and congratulations, Martha!
Here is what our team has to say about Martha:
"Martha is a mom with some serious heart and hustle! You will always catch her sharing a blanket, a snack, or a smile, and this girl can work it! She comes to every class with such intention and focus and motivates everyone around her, all while giving her sweet Isabella the greatest TLC and attention. I have been fortunate enough to see Martha's discipline and determination in Run Club as well, and she is always up for a challenge, impressing at every turn. This hard core mamma has a heart of gold and we are so lucky she is part of our village!" - Instructor Lisa
"Martha is one of the kindest and most generous people I know! She is always sharing snacks, diapers, wipes, and offering up help to anyone who needs it. In her workouts she is dedicated, persistent and she motivates those around her. During run club she has organized moms to get together during the week for run sessions and she is always cheering people on and encouraging them. She often speaks of all that Stroller Strides has given to her as a mother and she is always giving right back to the our village and community."- Instructor Meg
"Martha's continued kindness is what sticks out most to me. No matter what challenges she maybe facing that day she is always reaching out to comfort or include another mom. As a run club member she was continuously organizing group runs and showing up with a big smile. Her strength in motherhood has created strength in those around her. She truly embodies what it means to be Mom of the Month" - Instructor Colleen
"Martha exudes kindness and joy. Her bright, friendly smile and magnetic energy draw everyone to her. She quietly ups the intensity of her workouts and before you know it, everyone around her is taking her lead and feeling motivated. Martha is always seeking to improve her strength, flexibility and endurance. Both her workouts and approach to motherhood have an all-in, giving-it-100% focus at all times. We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful person as part of our Village! Yay for Marvelous Martha!" - Instructor Sarah
1. Who are the members of your family?
My husband Marcin, daughter Isabella, and 3 mischievous dogs (Coco, Tullie, and Mr. Sam).
2. What is/was your career?
Cognitive neuroscience is my area of specialty. Assessing and treating patients with traumatic brain injuries/ cognitive dysfunction is my passion.
3. List 3 of your favorite things:
My Fit4mom gray open neck sweatshirt, Nike dri-fit Epic running tights, and Asics sneakers- can't live without these items.
4. What would your partner say is your best quality?
Marcin would say that my best quality is also my worst. He'd say that I'm very empathetic and extremely determined.
5. How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM Southeast Fairfield County and what has it done for you?
May 12th was my one year anniversary...so I've been a member for a little over a year.
Joining Fit4mom SE Fairfield County has been the best decision that I have made as a mother. The comradery of this group has helped me get through my mothering blues and the lonely/ isolative feelings that I've experienced during the early part of motherhood. I also have to mention that I am 10lbs lighter than my pre-baby weight...woohoo!!! Thank you SE Fairfield Fit4mom instructor team!!!!
6.What is your favorite class exercise?
Band resisted Romanian deadlifts are my favorite class exercise. My second favorite class exercise is a Burpee. I love the burn!
7. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
What surprised me most about motherhood is how rewarding being a parent is. Even during my most difficult/frustrating times..I feel blessed.
8. What is your proudest mommy moment so far?
My proudest mommy moment so far is best exhibited during run club. Running is hard enough, but running with a toddler is really challenging. My stamina to push through and persevere has really surprised me.
9.Any advice for other moms out there?
My best advice would be to stop for a moment, breathe, and enjoy motherhood without any constraints (deep breathing also allows oxygen to reach the brain which helps the body calm down and relax). Forcing something to happen when it's not supposed to happen causes much stress and anxiety...something I've learned the hard way with feeding and sleeping schedules. Enjoy these precious moments and remember that motherhood can be fun and joyful!
Thank you, Martha for sharing your love for FIT4MOM and being part of our village! Congratulations again! We love you!!!
