We are delighted to celebrate August's Motivating Mom of the Month as she is truly a pillar in our village. Dedicated to her two little boys, she is the epitome of patience, poise and confidence. We know you have crossed paths with this mama because often she attends classes SIX mornings a week! She is a constant source of positivity and support for our fellow mamas and someone we all have so much love and admiration for. Carolyn Schober, thank you for being part of our village!
Here is what our instructor team has to say about Carolyn:
"This is one confident, organized boss mom who has her act together! I can still remember being new to Stroller Strides and being in awe of how Carolyn so seemingly breezed through motherhood. Once I got to know her, I learned how well she keeps it real!! Carolyn always has a smile and a positive, "can-do" attitude. She exudes gratitude and contentment with her family and pours her heart into being present for and rejoicing in her children. Carolyn is extremely dedicated to her fitness, showing up for class most days of the week and working tirelessly at each one. She knows how to listen to her body and bridges form with function in every exercise, all while singing to her babies. Carolyn, you are a pillar in our Village and we love you!! - Instructor Sarah
"Carolyn's friendship and personal passion for Stroller Strides is how I discovered FIT4MOM, so it is with the greatest pleasure that I honor this fabulous, fierce, fit female as our motivating mom this month! I will never forget asking her about the classes: "Is this REALLY a good workout?" Her response? "It's so much more...just check it out yourself." She responded with the kind of confidence that she exudes day in and out in her workouts, motherhood, and life. Carolyn is no-nonsense! Coming to class 5-6 days a week (since baby #1, and now with both Alex and Tommy), she's a mama who has the heart and hustle we all admire and is a true pillar in our village! Carolyn supports our instructor team with low squats and loud singing, her fellow mamas with wise advice and a compassionate ear, and her beautiful boys with the calm, composed attention they need at all times. You are amazing, Carolyn, and so very respected and loved!" - Instructor Lisa
"Carolyn was one of the first people I met when joining stroller strides. She is friendly, outgoing and kind to everyone she meets. She also is dedicated to trying her hardest in every single class and is at stroller strides almost every day with two babies under 2 in tow! I can always count on Carolyn to be singing along with me while challenging herself to dig a little deeper in each exercise! I am so happy that we are honoring this incredibly hard working Mama!" - Instructor Meghan
"Carolyn is an incredible strength in our village both physically and mentally. She is a mom of two who is a true Boss. She is always arriving at class with a smile and ready to greet any new mom. She is willing to always take that extra challenge in an exercise and is the first to rejoice in someone else's good news. Her presence in our village is incredible and we love her for everything she brings"! - Instructor Colleen
1. Who are the members of your family?
My husband Stephen, and my boys Alex (nearly 21 months) and Tommy (4 months)
2. What is/was your career?
Before Alex was born, I worked as a medical director doing promotional medical education for oncology drugs and vaccines. After having Alex, I worked part time as a medical writer doing publication planning for hematology drugs. Since having Tommy, I'm now home full time with the boys.
3. List 3 of your favorite things:
Weekend morning snuggles in bed with Steve and the boys, chocolate, family time on the Cape
4. What would your partner say is your best quality?
The dedication I have to people and things that are important to me
5. How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM Southeast Fairfield County, and what has it done for you?
I first started going to stroller strides in January of 2016. After feeling so helpless from struggling with 4 years of unexplained infertility and the scary/difficult pregnancies I had with both boys, stroller strides helped me regain a sense of control over my body. I love that each workout can be as tough or as easy as I want it to be. But more important than the physical benefits, our village has been such a blessing because of the friendships, support, and community it has given me and my boys.
6.What is your favorite class exercise?
Seated rows are my personal favorite - they bring me back to the peacefulness of early mornings spent warming up on the water when I was on the crew team in college. I also love any sequence we do that incorporates "I'm gonna get you" or "Along came Mr Alligator" because Alex always shyly begs for more.
7. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
My reluctant acceptance of the mess that goes along with a house overflowing with baby and toddler toys, Alex's radius of spilled food after every meal, Tommy's spit-up, and the endless laundry. Also the scientist in me can't help but wonder how Alex is not in a constant state of dehydration given all of the drooling he does!
8. What is your proudest mommy moment so far?
Seeing the genuine love my boys have for each other and the bond that is so evidently growing between them has been the best. Alex will hold Tommy's hand when Tommy cries or bring him his blanket, share his toys with Tommy and even tries to share his food with Tommy. Tommy obviously can't reciprocate yet, but Alex is clearly his favorite person in the world.
9.Any advice for other moms out there?
One of my favorite pieces of advice is something that fellow FIT4MOM Southeast Fairfield County mom Mary Price shared with me last summer. She told me to always remember the phrase "for now." My own mom and other moms have shared similar sentiment, but the actual phrase "for now" really resonated with me and has helped me keep perspective in tough moments and savor the wonderful ones.
Carolyn, thank you for inspiring us all each day! We are so grateful that you chose US as your friends and village! Keep up the great work, you are doing a great job, mama!
