Here is what our instructor team has to say about Jackie:
"Jackie is a real team player. Her friendly personality and bright, open demeanor make everyone around her feel relaxed and welcome. Jackie can talk to anyone. She has a very special ability to connect with people on the spot, particularly with new moms, taking them under her wing and making them feel like a part of our community right away. Jackie consistently gives 100% to her workouts and seeks opportunities to sing and engage with her little ones. She is ready for any exercise, whether it be a new challenge or an old faithful, and comes to every workout with a positive attitude. Jackie is a kind, understanding, dedicated mom and we are so fortunate to have her!!" - Instructor Sarah
"What a ray of sunshine Jackie is every morning, smiling and welcoming our village with a bright hello and contagious positive energy. More times than I can count, I'm amazed at her calm, attentive responses to the many requests from her children asking for a snack, toy, or other adjustment; she is patient and kind all while getting in a great workout. I've often wondered why Jackie is not is our Run Club Crew with her speed and stamina. Even up those hills with a double stroller in the summer heat she torches through every run! Jackie is an amazing mama and one we are honored to celebrate as a true motivating mom!" - Instructor Lisa
"Two words that come to mind when thinking about Jackie are dedication and persistence. She is dedicated to her children who she is singing along side or making laugh. She is also dedicated to her workouts everyday. She is the one seen running the double stroller up the hill and using this opportunity to work so hard while engaging her littles. That persistence has driven her every day to be present with her children and along side other moms. Jackie is a true example of leading by example. Her strength and beauty in motherhood is truly remarkable and we are so lucky to have her apart of our village." -Instructor Colleen
"When I think of Jackie I think of her warm and friendly personality, always ready to chat with someone, always smiling and upbeat. I also think of her dedication to her children, the countless days she would pause in the middle of stroller strides to feed Bo and then go right back to her workout! Her delight and joy in her children always shines through. Lastly when I think of Jackie I picture her pushing her double stroller, jumping right into her work out with enthusiasm. Jackie is a dedicated and hardworking Mama in every way!" - Instructor Meghan
1. Who are the members of your family?
Me, Tad (hubby), Ceci (4), Bo (1)
2. What is/was your career?
Right out of college, I taught fourth grade as part of Teach for America in Charlotte, NC. After that, I spent about seven years working in marketing. Today I am a writer and the author of two young adult novels. My current work-in-progress, Salted Caramel Dreams, will hit shelves in February 2018!
3. List 3 of your favorite things:
- Spending time doing something active/exploring something new as a family - going on a run, to a beach, zoo, museum, etc.
- Reading a good book. Or any book, really. Most nights I'd rather read than watch TV
- Friday night pizza and Netflix/Amazon series bingeing with my husband. Preferably with a glass of rose!
4. What would your partner say is your best quality?
I really don't know. Maybe that I can function on very little sleep?
5. How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM Southeast Fairfield County, and what has it done for you?
I joined FIT4MOM a year ago this month, when Bo was six weeks old! However I did take a few classes with Courtney back when she was an instructor in Stamford and Ceci was a baby. Joining Courtney's village has been the best thing I've done since moving to Fairfield. I've made new friends, gotten amazing advice when working through various issues - dairy allergies, teething, sleep training and threenager sassiness - and really given me a positive outlook on motherhood and all I am accomplishing, even on those days when nothing goes my way!
6.What is your favorite class exercise?
Burpees - even though I groan, after completing a set, I can feel myself getting stronger!
7. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
How physically exhausting it is! Everyone tells you about the sleepless nights during the newborn stage, but no one really talks about the chasing after toddlers phase, the playing hide and go seek and tag phase, the need to cook three dinners and then pick them all up off the floor phase. By the end of every day, I can't wait to sit down!
8. What is your proudest mommy moment so far?
Watching Ceci and Bo start to play together and develop a loving sibling relationship.
9.Any advice for other moms out there?
Be kind to yourself. Motherhood is hard! So many days I worry I'm not measuring up - not spending enough time with the kids or working on my book or keeping up with laundry and the house. But the truth is, it's impossible to do everything and it's okay to let things go or ask for help. One small thing I do now is every time I start feeling overwhelmed, I pull out my phone and look through the pictures I've snapped that day of Ceci and Bo just playing around the house. And when I see those smiles, I tell myself I'm doing a good job. Even if my house isn't sparkling or the dishes aren't done or I'm wearing mismatched socks. Because I know I'm doing the best I can, and that will always be enough!
Thank you Jackie for letting our readers get to know more about you and sharing your love of FIT4MOM! We love you and all that you are!
