April's Motivating Mom of the Month

We are so excited to introduce our Motivating Mom of the Month for April! You have most recently seen her rocking her workouts with that baby bump, but this mama has been a true example of hard work and kindness from her first day as part of our village, nearly two years ago! Mom of now TWO boys (as of this week), this veteran Stroller Strides mama is a true gem and we are so excited for her and her growing family! Thanks Krista for being part of our village! We love you!

"Krista has a kindness and grace that permeates everything she does- from her work outs to her mothering! Krista's dedication to fitness as a pregnant Mama has been inspiring to all!" - Instructor Meghan

"Krista is one of the kindest, friendliest and most caring moms in Our Village. We truly wouldn't be the same without her! Krista was a true inspiration to us all as she kept her workouts strong throughout her pregnancy, running, singing and planking away. Fitness and motherhood are priorities for her and we are all better for seeing her live these passions with grace." - Instructor Sarah

"With strength and a smile Krista sang and squat all through this second pregnancy! She is such a kind hearted spirit and we are blessed to have her as a part of our village, modeling dedicated friendship, strength in motherhood, and amazing prenatal fitness!" - Instructor Lisa

"Krista is such a strong hearted presence in class. Every day she is there, she works so hard to be a great example for her son. As a pregnant momma she is a source of what a true fit prenatal momma is! She brings such kindness to our village and she amazes me everyday!" -Instructor Colleen

Meet Krista!

1. Who are the members of your family?

My husband Rob, our 2.5 year old son Owen, another baby boy due on April 7th, and our black lab Carla.

2. What is/was your career?

Up until having Owen, I worked in finance; however, I am currently taking classes towards my Master’s in Elementary Education.

3. List 3 of your favorite things:

Baking, family vacations to Nantucket, and spending time outdoors.

4. What would your partner say is your best quality?

According to him - I’m a great mom and I’m good at thoughtful surprises.

5. How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM Southeast Fairfield County, and what has it done for you?

I joined Fit4Mom almost 2 years ago and cannot imagine how different my life would be without it - my only regret is that I didn’t start sooner! It has allowed me to get back into shape after having Owen (without worrying about childcare!), and has helped me to stay healthy during my current pregnancy. I was initially a little nervous about being able to keep up with a high intensity workout while pregnant, but I was pleasantly surprised with how much I was still able to do! The instructors have also been great with helping me to modify exercises as my pregnancy progresses to make sure baby and I are safe and comfortable. I’m already excited to get back to class at 6 weeks postpartum after I’m cleared by my doctor! Aside from the physical benefits, Owen and I have made great friends through Fit4Mom and look forward to the social aspect of coming to class each day. I could not imagine a more friendly, supportive, and fun group of moms to spend each morning with!

6.What is your favorite class exercise?

Sprints. I’ve never been a big fan of distance running, but I love how we all challenge and encourage each other during sprints - particularly with that hill behind Owen Fish Park!

7. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?

How much can be accomplished on very little sleep!

8. What is your proudest mommy moment so far?

It’s so hard to say, given that there are little victories (and challenges) every day! But I will say that with Owen being a late walker at 16 months, seeing him take those first few steps was pretty awesome. Now I look back and can’t believe how much I worried about that.

9.Any advice for other moms out there?

Don’t be afraid to ask for help and lean on one other, both emotionally and with day-to-day challenges. We are all in this together, and being a stay-at-home mom in particular can be really isolating without having other moms to socialize, vent, and celebrate with!

Krista, we wish you the best as you transition to being a family of four and cannot wait to have you and the boys back at class!!
