5. How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM Southeast Fairfield County, and what has it done for you?

I have been a member of FIT4MOM SE Fairfield County for just over two years. I am most appreciative of the confidence and friendships that it has provided to me. I remember being terrified going to my first class. I was always nervous leaving the house with my first born. I loved Stroller Strides from day one when I met Courtney (instructor) and she had her two boys in a double wide stroller (the idea of a double stroller blew my mind at the time!!). I recall that one of her boys started fussing a little in the stroller and she just kept pushing on with the class, tending to her children’s needs but also willing to let them fuss at times. I still was anxious when my little one made noise in class but having seen the instructor handle the same situation with her children like it was "no big deal" made me feel that it was okay when my little guy had his moments. I never felt judged, just tons of support. I gained more and more confidence with every trip to Stroller Strides and loved getting to know the other mothers and hear their stories of motherhood.

Recently, when I returned to Strides after my second was born. It felt like I was coming home- such a welcoming group of people, old and new faces. I love that I have people to laugh and empathize with about the daily woes of parenting. It is nice to be surrounded with other sleep deprived moms that may or may not have spit up on them somewhere. I also truly appreciate the instructors, especially Courtney for creating this safe, supportive environment. Stroller Strides has done a lot for me, it has provided me with confidence and friendships, not to mention I now fit back into my pre-pregnancy jeans!!!
