November 2018's Motivating Mom of the Month

As we say good-bye to November, we get to shine the light on another Motivating Mom in Our Village. This mama is a model for commitment, focus and balance! She is always up for a challenge and gives 110% to everything she does including her family, her job and her goals. Most recently, this mama has joined our Body Back Transformation session and just wow! Her results are truly remarkable and her renewed sense of self and strength is something to be celebrated (not to mention her crushing the 5 mile Turkey Trot last week in single digit temperatures). This month, we are honoring the fabulous, Jennifer DeLaurentis!

Here is what our instructor team has to say about Jennifer:

If you need someone to get you inspired, a roadmap for productivity, a source for happiness in life and work, and a model for mothering with heart, look no further because Jen has this all down. Jen is an extremely special part of Our Village; a true leader. She understands that life will have its challenges, but she does not see this as an obstacle to growth. She just forges ahead, often taking the more difficult path, and comes out on top. Add to this that she does it all with a smile on her face, a kind disposition, and optimistic outlook. Jen stands out in class and when she felt she wanted to take her fitness and well-being to the next level, we roped her into our Body Back program- which she has absolutely championed!! It is truly amazing to see her in action! She comes to every class with the mindset of an athlete, encourages the group, and leaves everyone feeling so motivated and uplifted. Jen approaches everything she does with commitment, intention and excellence, including parenting. Jen’s lovely family is a true testament to how she pours her heart into motherhood, living her values and goals every step of the way. It is so special to celebrate Jen as this month’s motivating mom! We met as very new, first time moms and I feel fortunate to have journeyed alongside her as friends in fitness and motherhood. Jen has always given her all at class, pushing toward personal physical challenges and setting new goals, all while caring for her littles. It is a special evolution to see her strength through her pregnancy, patience with a new baby and toddler in tote at stroller strides, and power working alongside her at body back. Jen is a special contributor to our Fit4Mom community. She has always modeled excellent health and fitness choices for her family but once she decided to take it up to the next level with body back she began to inspire those around her. Her choice to challenge herself in a positive way has shown everyone around her that there isn’t much this working mom of two can’t do! Way to go Jen! - Instructor Colleen

I remember Jen announcing her second pregnancy almost two years ago at a Strides Saturday class. Watching her go through pregnancy, give birth to her son and then master being Mom of two children was inspirational and she did it with so much heart and love. Jen has an internal grace in parenting and in the way she moves through the world that adds so much to our Fit4Mom village. As well, she is dedicated to her work outs and always challenges herself to go further, deeper and faster. I am so excited that we are honoring Jen as our Motivating Mama! Meet Jennifer:

1. Who are the members of your family?

Myself, my husband Eric, my daughter Erin (2), and my son Michael (1).

2. What is/was your career?

I’m a Fairfield County Realtor and I also run a construction company with my husband who is a builder.

3. List 3 of your favorite things:

Coffee

Music

Travel (We haven’t done as much since we started our family but looking forward to it soon again).

4. What would your partner say is your best quality?

He would say I’m a selfless person. I try to do what I can for others as much as possible.

5. How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM Southeast Fairfield County, and what has it done for you?

I started FIT4MOM about 2.5 years ago. I took my first stroller strides class when my daughter was about 4 months old and was like, “how come I didn’t find this sooner?!” It has given me a network of Moms who just get it. Myself and my children have made life-long friends through the FIT4MOM village. My kids love the playgroups after classes. Just recently when my schedule changed, I decided to enroll in the Body Back Transformation Program and it has been life-changing. Getting up and getting an hour to focus on myself with zero distractions has brought me great mental clarity. The nutrition guide and program have trained me to be a better, healthier, meal-planner for my whole family!

6.What is your favorite class exercise?

I love side planks or any kind of planks. My core has gone through so much these past few years so I love working on building it back up.

7. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?

Probably how much I’m able to do in one day. I went from taking care of just me to me plus 2 dependent little humans in under 3 years. It’s amazing!

8. What is your proudest mommy moment so far?

Seeing my kids grow, develop, and show me something new they are learning each day is the greatest reward as a Mom.

9.Any advice for other moms out there?

Be kind to yourself. You’re doing the best you can.
